Petroleum Data, Facts, and Statistics
Under the Petroleum Industry Information Reporting Act (PIIRA), the Energy Commission collects data from refiners, producers, petroleum product transporters and marketers, and petroleum pipeline and terminal operators. Each entity is required to submit to the Energy Commission weekly, monthly, and annual reports on receipts, inventory levels, imports, exports, prices, and transportation sources. The Energy Commission analyzes and interprets this information to provide policy makers and the public with key insights on oil supply and demand fluctuations and potential issues. Fuel Price Overview
February 18, 2019 - Continuing the climb for a third week. Regular is higher than last weeks price by less than a cent.
The average price in California for regular gasoline increased 0.6-cent from the previous week. The average statewide price for regular was $3.161. Mid-grade and premium prices increased as well.
The national average for self-serve regular is at $2.317, up 4.1 cents from the previous week.This is 84.4 cents lower than the price of regular in California.

The California Department of Conservation, Division of Oil, Gas & Geothermal Resources (DOGGR) oversees the drilling, operation, maintenance, and plugging and abandonment of oil, natural gas, and geothermal wells.
